As the title of this post may have let on, I’m sick as a dog right now so I’m going to be spending a lot of time near my laptop and listening to mellow music. Part 1 of this all-day series is Vancouver instrumental project Babe Rainbow. I don’t know if it’s because I fell in love with Burial at an early age (okay, I was in the 11th Grade… not that young as far as music is concerned), but ambient, experimental music like this just hits all the right buttons in my brain’s pleasure centre.
I’m sharing two sets of his today. The first, Samples, is made up entirely of samples from other tracks and really showcases how far a little patience and creativity will take you.
The second set is his collection of “unfinished” demo beats, Pay Your Bills. To me these sound very complete and I’m curious to know what else he would have done to them.
