The Moombahton fam seems to be getting closer and closer, and I’m really delighted to see how the community reacted after the predicament with the ‘Lighter’ Comp from Kwest; everyone really took it to support him. I had wanted to post that comp, but alas it has been taken down from the requests of Doc Scott. I really feel like EDM in general should allow the access of new ideas and sounds without getting too upset about intellectual property. Unless your name is truly being ruined (which it wasn’t, that whole compilation was fire), these big names have to allow some leeway with people sampling and remixing their tracks, its how most of them got in the business in the first place.
Now to get off my soap box for a bit, here’s some tunes from my email inbox.
Got this guy Heisenberg with his tune Village Rules. Reminds me of a more deep tech drum-influenced moombahton which I love. Some people are getting too involved with their leads and forgetting about the percussion! This one doesn’t, and thus has a beautiful tribal-ish jam.
Next up is some club bangin ish, brought to you by ZSonic. He took Beyonce’s ‘Party’ and twerked it to a mad moombah jam. I enjoy the production here, everything sounds solid and sounds useful for a moombah-virgin crowd.
Finally I have something different for you, I wouldn’t call this moombahton at all, probably more close to trip or glitch hop but alas, it is within that slower BPM range and I’ll cover it anyways. Not sure where this kid comes from, but waaaaooow this tune is rockin’! I love the production a lot, and it deserves to be heard. I could almost easily hear a Tyler, The Creator vocal over this bit, the synth used is so spacey and out there. Definitely one outside of the box, but beautiful nonetheless.
That’s all folks!
Thanks for listening to my ramble and the tunes, if you are interested to be posted on here, throw me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
